Apogee dumps Microsoft Windows forever
I don’t know how I missed this one. Is Apple going to buy Apogee or vise versa? Is there a merge, Apple-Apogee-Euphonix, on the horizon for a further reaching Pro Audio combination? Could you imagine Digidesign being forced by the market to allow other hardware to connect to Pro Tools? I could use my Apogee Duet or Symphony System with Pro Tools. Hmm… Not sure why I would want to do that. Even so, To be forced to open up so that other hardware would work. It matters not a bit to me. DAW’s are a personal thing now. I expect a big studio (which are dwindling) to have what I use, not just Pro Tools, if they want my business. Very interesting news though. I feel sad for our MS Windows brothers. Anyways…
Apogee has announced that as of 2009 it will no longer develop any products for MS Windows. Wow! Apogee makes some pretty amazing and transparent ADDA stuff. My Duet blows anything similar out of the water that I have tried. I love it. Apogee plans to focus all it’s energy on research, development and support resources for the Apple platform.
