Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Ahh, the third finest holiday of the year… The day when mass amounts of corned beef (that goes on sale and is sold by the truck loads in America) is consumed in our home. St. Patrick’s day!

Unfortunately, this holiday has been transformed into a mindless drinking holiday for many. St Patrick’s day is about drinking, or at least that is how most americans view it, but that is not it at all. I often wonder if there are very many people who even know what St. Patrick’s day is really about (I am not talking about the folklore… like getting rid of all the snakes in Ireland).

This holiday is about being a missionary of faith.

I think the best stoy on this topic comes from a children’s book entitled, Patrick: Patron Saint of Ireland. This is the story we read year after year. Find it and read it (it’s not seemingly tainted by a specific religious group like the Wikipedia version ;-]).
