HDR

Tonight My wife and I thought we would rent a movie from iTunes and make some homemade popcorn (as opposed to microwave popcorn). She picked out the movie while I ran to the market to get a Coke. I then made the popcorn. Yummy! Unfortunately the iTunes movie rental ordeal took hours and we gave up. Now… since this is not about the movie, I will move on.
I began browsing around some blogs and discovered some really nice work from Serge Ramelli which I thought was beautiful, surreal. It is really hard to describe. They were almost dreamscapes instead of landscapes. These photographs were very close to some things I have been trying to grow out of some of my photographs for some time now.
I started to do a little research and found out that these photographs are HDR (High Dynamic Range) photographs. I then decided to look further. I found that Photoshop is capable, however there is no real tone mapping, or at least I couldn’t find it. I have found that most of the work I have seen is done with PhotoMatix Pro . I looked into it and it can be standalone or a Photoshop plugin.
I have decided to start trying different photo sets for this and will log the results here.
